Selection factors engineers should confirm

  • Confirm switching voltage separately from stand-off or isolation voltage.
  • Check load type: resistive, capacitive, cable, charged capacitor or hot-switching profile.
  • Review leakage current, insulation resistance and contact resistance requirements.
  • Design PCB clearance/creepage, guarding and contamination control for the working voltage.
  • Select coil voltage, contact form, package, termination and expected switching life from the datasheet.
Engineering note: Do not assume a relay can hot-switch the maximum stand-off voltage. Final rating depends on load profile, current, capacitance and life target.
