Product family overview

High Voltage DC Contactors application and selection guide

High voltage DC contactors are designed for DC load control in battery, EV, charging, energy storage and industrial power systems where carry, make and break ratings must be matched to voltage, load type, polarity and pre-charge strategy.

Use this family for DC power-path control where arc suppression, contact life, coil control and thermal design must be confirmed against the real load profile.

Engineering selection notes

Before choosing a model

These notes keep product pages useful for engineers while avoiding overclaims. Final ratings remain model- and application-specific.

Carry current is not make/break currentContinuous current, making current and breaking current depend on DC voltage, time constant, polarity, pre-charge strategy and expected electrical life. Use the datasheet limits and RFQ review for the real load profile.
Pre-charge and polarity matterDC-link capacitors usually need a pre-charge path. Many DC contactors are polarity-sensitive for interruption, so bidirectional or reverse-current systems require explicit confirmation.
Follow coil suppression instructionsDo not add external flyback diodes or suppression to internally economized/suppressed contactor coils unless the contactor datasheet approves it; delayed release can reduce interrupt capability.
